Introduction
Yagya/ Yajna is one of the sacrificial rituals of Hinduism in which offerings are made to different Gods and Goddesses in a prescribed manner by a group of Vedic Pandits. The chanting of Vedic mantras, while performing Vedic Yagya is expected to ensure fulfilment of specific wishes. 


The word Yagya/ Yajna is mainly derived from the Sanskrit word ‘yaj’, which has a threefold meaning; to unify (sangatikaran), to give (dan) and to worship deities (Devapuja). A Yagya also encompasses the welcoming of guest (satkaar) and unity (sangathan) while performing the sacrificial ritual.

Atharva Veda describes Yajna as:
